I’ve witnessed multiple issues with deploying DirecTV Favorite Station s within the App. It appears that the “Local Market Channels” need to be created separately fron the National Channels. All good but there doesn’t appear to be a methodology to amalgmate the Locals with the Nationals. Moreover, there needs to be a way to Edit all of the channels…to be clear, there are local channels that I will never want or need to watch and that also applies to the global picture.

    • I am having the same issue and wondering if there is a solution?

      • John,

Regrettably, there doesn’t appear to be a work-a-round for this disconnect presently (per Tech Support).

The DTV National Channels are the same in every market. Cable Channels vary depending on the market served. Local Channels vary by actual location. Palm Beach County Local Channels are separate and distinct from Broward & Dade County Local Channels. It would certainly be helpful if the Crestron Team could figure out a way to allow/support a “Single Favorite Channel” configuration that includes both Local and National Channels.

Typically, one cannot receive “Out of Market” channels from DirecTV (or others). There was a lawsuit filed many years ago regarding this very issue. Many snowbirds wanted to receive their northern local channels (NY, New Jersey, etc.) and the Courts ruled in favor of the advertisers. You have to get a Special Dispensation from the Pope to receive out of market channels and this is largely governed by the local channels management team. If your are able to receive a local channel, permission for the out of market channel(s) is generally denied.

        • Not as concerned about out of market issues, I just want one favorite list that has all the channels. Not one list with the locals and one with the nationals. Or make it so we can select both instead of only one list per Directv box6

          • As Crestron has said this is a 3rd party provider doing this service and may I suggest that it’s doing a disservice to the Crestron brand, In my neighborhood all it’s providing is grief. Dish network in San Diego – same boof as others but with the extra non-goodness of having MANY inaccurate channel numbers. You can have locals, or you can have the rest. I know in the other crestron ecosystem there are are end-user ways to edit both icons and channel #s. We don’t even have that as dealers.

Please don’t suggest we create another quick action, or worse – dig into the json file and have to hunt & fix. I agree with everyone who’s posted . We need one place where we can edit channels and this has been been an issue since Pyng O/S 2.

            • Terry,

My comments were only intended to address another’s question regarding the amalgamation of all Favorites Channels under “One Roof”. I broached this question with Crestron, some weeks ago, and was instructed that it was not possible…presently. They also suggested that the FAV subject matter was not a unique request…many others had also inquired.

I meant no disrespect and if that was somehow inferred, my apologies to all.

Our local channel DTV Market is served principally by Ch’s 5/12/25/29 &42, which represents channels NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX & PBS. It is only a slight inconvenience (for me) to jump back and forth between the National and Local Channels. My comments regarding the deployment of the Keypad buttons are valid. Again, the comments are intended to improve the user interface and not take issue with the Development Team or with Crestron. If this issue is “written in stone”, so be it. If there is a suitable work-a-round in the near term or possibly in the future, great! At the end of the day, it is the customer that we all have to please. Some will be understanding and others will be critical. A Crestron Home deployment may not be for everyone and those demanding a higher level of custom integration may be better served with Crestron 1.0 with the enhancements to the cost of deployment.

    • I forgot to add one thing to my please don’t list – Please don’t tell me that I should consider using another flavor of Crestron for a higher level of custom.

That argument would absolutely hold true if we were talking about something that was not yet available. I’ve been as patient as everyone regarding new features.

This is not a new feature. It’s a feature that marketing sells as a cool function that end users can setup themselves. It’s end user facing, and user selectable which means they don’t need us to find themselves with a page of buttons that don’t all work.

We can’t turn it off, we can’t easily make any edits. I also got the full explanation about this being an outside service but it doesn’t work.

I’m not concerned about my own house, this is creating problems for me on sites, especially while we’re awaiting Siri, which may help alleviate some of this .

We’ve been Crestron dealers since 2002 and we’ve been 100% behind Crestron Home. No disrespect given or received. It seems like this has been back burner’ed and it’s an active software feature with active problems since it rolled out.
